Agreeing to these terms

These terms cover your use of this website and any work you hire J&R Cedar Rapids Insulation Services to do. By using the site, asking for an estimate or booking a job, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or book work with us.

When we say "we", "us" or "our", we mean J&R Cedar Rapids Insulation Services. When we say "you", we mean the person using the site or the homeowner or business hiring us. If your signed estimate or contract says something different from these terms, the signed document wins for that job.

What we do

We're an insulation contractor in Cedar Rapids, IA, and we work in the cities around it. Our work includes attic, wall, crawl space and basement insulation, blown-in and spray foam insulation, air sealing, vapor barriers and insulation removal. You can see the full list on our home page and read more about us on our About page.

What's on this website is general information to help you understand the work. It isn't a promise about your house, because every attic and crawl space is different. The exact scope of your job is what's written on your estimate.

Estimates and pricing

We give free quotes on site, with no obligation. Your price depends on things like the size of the space, how much insulation is already up there, how easy the area is to reach, whether old material has to come out first and which material you choose. Foam, for example, usually costs more than loose fill.

An estimate is based on what we can see before the work starts, so it can change once a job is open. If we find soaked insulation, droppings, damaged framing or anything else that changes the work, we'll stop, show you and give you the new price before we go on. We won't do extra work you haven't approved.

Unless your estimate says otherwise, a quote is good for 30 days. After that, material costs may have changed and we may need to update it.

Scheduling, access and cancellation

We set a start date with you once you accept the estimate. Weather, material delivery and earlier jobs running long can move a date, and if that happens we'll tell you as soon as we know.

You agree to give our crew safe access to the work area on the scheduled day, which usually means clearing stored items from the attic hatch, crawl space entry or the walls we're working on. You also agree to follow the instructions we give you for the job, including any time you, your kids and your pets need to stay out of the house after spray foam goes in. That time is set by the foam maker's instructions, and we'll tell you before the job when you can come back.

If you need to cancel or move a job, please call or write to us as soon as you can. If we've already ordered material made for your job or our crew has already started, you may be charged for that material and the work done so far.

Payment

When payment is due and how you can pay are written on your estimate or invoice. For larger jobs we may ask for a deposit before we order material, and if so, the estimate will say how much.

Payment is due when the work on your invoice is finished unless your estimate says otherwise. If a balance goes unpaid, we may charge reasonable collection costs where Iowa law allows it.

Our guarantee and what it doesn't cover

We're licensed and insured, and our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. If something about our work isn't right, call us and we'll come back to look at it and make it right.

Any warranty on materials comes from the maker, under the maker's terms, and we'll pass along what they give us. Any written warranty from us is the one on your estimate or invoice. Beyond those, we make no other promises, spoken or written, including any promise that the work will lower your power bill by a set amount or suit a particular purpose.

Our guarantee doesn't cover damage caused by roof leaks, plumbing leaks, pests, storms, work done by others after we leave, or changes made to the area we insulated. It also doesn't cover problems in parts of the house we didn't work on.

Limits on our liability

To the extent Iowa law allows, our total liability for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. We aren't liable for indirect losses such as lost income, lost use of your home or higher utility costs.

We aren't responsible for conditions that were already in your house before we started and that we didn't cause, such as hidden moisture, mold, rot or wiring problems. If we find one while we work, we'll tell you so you can decide what to do about it. Nothing in this section limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Settling a disagreement

If you're unhappy with anything, call us first at (319) 536-8073 or reach us through our Contact page, because most problems get fixed faster in a conversation than anywhere else. We'll look at it with you and try to settle it within 30 days.

If we can't settle it ourselves, we both agree to try mediation before either of us goes to court. Any court case will be filed in the state courts serving Linn County, Iowa, unless the law requires a different place.

Which state's law applies

These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, without regard to rules that would send a dispute to another state's law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, and the newest version will always be on this page. Changes apply to work booked after they're posted. A job you've already signed for stays under the terms that were in place when you signed.

If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
